Royston Blythe are delighted to announce that Royston for Shrewsbury and Nick for Wolverhampton  have been announced as finalists in the most prestigious British Hairdressing Awards.  Nick has won the coveted Midlands Hairdressers Of The Year title 3 times already and this year we couldn’t be happier that both Nick and Royston have individually been selected as finalists.

Now in its fourth decade, the awards hosted by Hairdressers Journal International and supported since its inception by sole sponsor Schwarzkopf Professional, continue to go from strength-to-strength in its quest to celebrate the most diverse and creative of talents in hairdressing.

The winners of Midlands Hairdressers Of The Year and 15 other categories including the prized British Hairdresser of the Year title are all to be announced at The British Hairdressing Awards  on Monday 30th November.  Fingers crossed!

At Royston Blythe, the health, well being and safety of our clients and team is our priority.
In the light of the evolving situation with Coronavirus, we would like to draw your attention to some preventative measures at Royston Blythe that we have had to put into place.
We would ask any client suffering from the symptoms of Corona Virus – Covid 19 should not attend the salon and rearrange their appointment.
As per the Government Guidelines these are :

Congratulations Anthony On Becoming An Elite L’oreal Colour Specialist

Less than 2 years after joining our Shrewsbury Salon team, Anthony has proved just how much can be achieved with determination, passion, commitment, hairdressing talent, encouragement and of course opportunities.

‘Moving to Royston Blythe was a big decision for me. I was an experienced hairdresser in Shrewsbury and was so keen to progress and develop my career and work with the best. I couldn’t have dreamed that I could have been given so many opportunities and achieved so much in such a short space of time’ explains Anthony who was recently named in the top 6 Best Colourists in the UK in the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards.

He continues ‘In less than two years I have completed my L’oreal Colour Degree; I’ve  been recognised as one of  the top 6 Colourists in the UK;  have been trained as a Rapture Hair Extensions Specialist; reached the regional finals of the L’oreal Colour Trophy; worked as part of the Royston Blythe Artistic Team; participated in countless L’oreal courses and had the chance to work on a number of shoots. I’m so unbelievably grateful to Royston & Nick for having given me all these opportunities’

For Anthony, completing his L’oreal Colour Degree with DISTINCTION during an intense and gruelling 15-week elite Education Programme was the icing on the cake after his British Hairdressing Awards success.  Anthony now joins our Wolverhampton Salon Technical Manager James as part of an elite L’Oréal Professionnel group of Colour Experts across the UK and Ireland. T hey are specialist colourists who have been certified and recognised as having an unparalleled knowledge of colour and an advanced understanding of technical know-how.

‘At Royston Blythe we are passionate that our team are trained to the very highest level and are experts in their field.   We also make a commitment to each and every one that joins Royston Blythe that we will support them, encourage them and help them flourish in the career of their dreams.   Anthony began working at our Shrewsbury Salon a couple of years ago and has always been a committed, hard-working member of our team with lots of energy and a real passion and talent for Creative Colouring’ explains Royston Blythe Regional Manager, Sara Tunnicliff.

For the last 3 months, every Wednesday Anthony has travelled to The L’Oréal Academy in Manchester to study for his  Colour Specialist Degree and we are delighted (but not at all surprised) that he has been recognised at the very highest level.

‘The qualification has opened up many doors for me as my confidence in colour has excelled and I’m on a different creative level with advanced colour knowledge’ Anthony continues, ‘ I feel that I can now tackle anything in the sense of colour and colour correction. We mastered the art of identifying colour palettes for skin tones and eye colour and after such in-depth theory and practical training, I now look at colour completely differently. The experience was amazing, both challenging and intense – I was pushed right out of my comfort zone and boundaries and the outcome has been incredible. ‘

The academy is like a huge playground of colour and a brilliant opportunity to learn new, trend-led, fashion-focused techniques that Anthony and James have brought back to our salons to share with our other colourists’ Anthony specialises in all aspects of colour and is particularly passionate about creating natural looks that are seamless but at the same time absolutely flawless.

In true Royston style, Anthony is adamant that his clients should always feel very special when they are sitting in one of our chairs and walk out of our salon doors feeling and looking fabulous. So, to make sure that your hair looks amazing, we caught up with the experts at Royston Blythe to bring you the ultimate guide to planning the perfect ‘do for your big day.

Nick says: “Fall in love with your wedding look and style months in advance and prepare for the most fabulous version of yourself. Make sure that you put the same planning into your hair that you would any other aspect of your big
day. Forward planning will have your hair colour, length, condition and style looking absolutely perfect.”

Six months to go…

Research! Your normal hairdresser may be amazing at cutting and colouring your locks but that doesn’t make them a bridal hair specialist. So, do your research and find a bridal hair expert for the best results.

Schedule your first visit to the salon and attend armed with plenty of inspiration to help your hairdresser understand your bridal style and vision. Haven’t got a clue? Don’t worry, your bridal hair expert will provide plenty of ideas.

Three months to go…

Decide your colour goals at the earliest opportunity and plan any changes accordingly. Remember, the best colour is the one that makes you feel like you.

One month to go…

Whether you book in for a root touch up or a few light ribbons to brighten the complexion, you need to get the timing right because hair dye needs a little time to settle.  Plan your final dress rehearsal. This is such an important appointment for you because your hair colour and length are ready and it’s your last chance to make sure you love your look.

One week to go…

Nick and Royston Star In Panto

Nick and Royston In Panto

Nick & Royston were invited as special guests to take leading roles in the  Dick Whittington Panto at The Dance House Theatre, Manchester.

Nick and Royston were delighted to join the cast for this much-loved local event which raised over £10,000 for two fantastic Manchester-based charities.: The Wood Street Mission & Back On Track.    Royston and Nick took to the stage to narrate the famous story of Dick Whittington, made even more fabulous with local references and humour.

The crowd were in uproar as our fabulous School Mistresses relayed the tale of the hero, Dick Whittington, as he seeks fame, fortune and happiness and becomes the Lord Mayor.  Guided by the magical Fairy Bow Bells on his adventure Dick eventually outwits the evil King Rat and wins the beautiful Alice’s hand in marriage.

The action-packed, sell-out pantomime was full of dancing and music and throughout the performance, the outbursts of applause and laughter filled the theatre!

‘It was fabulous to take part in this pantomime – we were honoured to have been asked as special guests!  It’s always brilliant to raise money for local charities and the cast and everyone involved in the panto were brilliant – lots of fun in aid of a great cause!’
