HOLIDAY HAIR – THE ESSENTIALS

HOLIDAY HAIR — THE ESSENTIALS

When a girl hits the runway she wants to look her best!  Good products and a little pre holiday planning will offer you the best options.  Summer holidays are all about fun, enjoyment and relaxation (we hope!) and you need to look fabulous with minimum effort.  The team at Royston Blythe are experts at advising clients on how to respect their hair in the sunshine and look their holiday best…….

Follow the holiday hair rules :  –

Pre Holiday Trim

A visit to your local salon for a restyle or even a quick trim will ensure that any dry or split ends which are especially prone to damage, will be removed before you spend time in the sun.

Treat Your Hair

We recommend that you treat your hair to regular deep conditioning treatments a couple of weeks before your departure date, so that it’s in peak condition for your holiday. Speak with your Kerastase specialist at the salon who will prescribe the perfect mask to suit your hair type. Continue the treatments every three or four days while you are away and then every three to four weeks after you get back, to maintain the hair’s moisture levels.

When you visit the salon why not treat your hair to a Kerastase Fusio Dose treatment

1. We profile your hair.  Your Royston Blythe hairdresser will identify the primary and secondary needs of your hair before they select the appropriate combination of Fusio-Dose.   The primary consideration condition and secondary is your personal desires such as colour fade or shine.

2.  After the professional hair diagnosis your hairdresser will create a customised mix of super concentrated, blended active ingredients.

3. We will then apply, to transform and revitalise your hair instantly.

Practice Styling

Plaits and ponies are a huge trend this season and are perfect for when you’re sitting on the beach or relaxing by the pool.  Scour Instagram for inspiration then practice your braiding techniques pre-holiday – there are tonnes of styles to choose from and they are simple and fast to re-create!

Rinse

Salt and chlorine is a major cause of hair and colour damage on holiday.  We advise all clients to rinse hair with fresh water after swimming in the sea or pool, as both salt and chlorine dry hair out.   Blondies take note…..excessive levels of chlorine will turn your hair green if you don’t follow the necessary precautions!

Shop Hats

Keeping your hair covered up as much as possible when you are out in the sun is ideal –  make sure you pack a pretty scarf or hat that will protect your hair from the  sun’s UV rays which can damage and de-colour your hair.

Thou Shalt Ditch The Straighteners

Ditch the straighteners and adopt the effortless beachy waves styling that is a key trend this season.  Not only will it allow you to spend more time soaking up the rays and enjoying the Mojito’s, it will also reduce the damage to your hair.   Beach Waves by L’oreal is a texturising salt water spray that gives you that on-trend beachy hair effect, with a no-rough touch. Effortless holiday hair can  go wild! Apply day or night and leave in for a messy-chic finish.

Pack Protection

Whenever your hair is left uncovered, get into the habit of applying a protective product.  Our favourite is Kerastase Micro-Voile Protecteur – lightly spritz your hair with the product  to protect against sun, salt and chlorinated water.

Post Holiday Cut & Colour

You return from your holidays relaxed, refreshed and with beautiful sun-kissed glow.  Make sure you optimise your glow by visiting the salon for post holiday hair pick me up!
