#stylistinthespotlight Emer

If you haven’t already had the pleasure, let us introduce you to Emer our self-confessed hair-obsessed senior stylist, full of Irish charm and talent beyond her years.

emerEmer joined the Royston Blythe family almost 3 years ago and is our Salon Trainer and our Queen of Bridal Hair & Hair Up. With an abundance of knowledge and experience, Emer offers a professional service to her clientele and in depth consultations and guidance for those guests who are wanting to transform their style.  Emer has a real thirst for product knowledge and is always on hand to recommend the bottles of magic potion that you need to take home to help you recreate your style when we’re not around.

We thought it was about time we put Emer in the spotlight and sneaked off for a quick coffee and catch up to quiz her on tips, trends and fashion forecasts.

Before she joined the Royston Blythe family, Emer enjoyed travelling around the world as a hairdresser and has worked in wonderful city’s including Sydney, London and Dublin.  ‘With a string of celebrity clients and lots of experience of working with top stylists in different countries,  I have picked up many tricks of the trade and am very passionate about keeping up to date on the new styles and trends!  The part of my job I love the most is helping others to look and feel the best they can!’

So, with this in mind, lets fire some questions over to her:

Q/. What are the hair up looks of the moment?

Effortless and casual is very popular at the moment. But don’t underestimate the work that still goes into it to get the right looks.

Q/. Best  hair up for a night out with friends?

For me, the ‘out out’ hair of the moment looks are half-up half-down and glamour ponytails.

Q/. A signature hair-up style that works every occasion?

A ponytail always works! You can go high or low, effortless or sleek and adapt it to every occasion.

Q/. Best ways to upgrade or add interest to long hair without losing length?

Soft layers are always good for movement and style without losing length. Tape-in hair extensions are also a good way of adding extra thickness or texture to mix up your style.

Q/. The colour techniques to ask for that compliment long hairstyles?

Babylights are good for all hair colours as they give a natural sun kissed enhancement while still completing every skin tone. Whatever you do….don’t forget to book your OLAPLEX treatment at the same time – this is the most awesome gamechanger for anyone who colours their hair.  It protects and treats from the inside whilst your colour is processing.  It’s particularly good for those who colour long hair.

Q/. How to treat long hair to ensure it remains healthy and full of vitality?

A trim every 6 weeks is key! You need to get rid of the split ends to see the healthy hair growing down long and not breaking off.    Weekly home treatments are a must and you need to make sure that you are prescribed the perfect shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.  Make sure you ask your stylist about home care….you’d be really surprised at how many people are using the wrong shampoo and conditioner and it can actually have an adverse effect on the hair.  We’re always here to help!

If you would like to visit Emer, she is based in our Wolverhampton Salon during the week and is now also available for appointments on Sundays!
