Haircare is our gift to NHS staff: we have set up salon service for front line workers
Royston and Nick have launched a national campaign to help put a spring in the step of frontline NHS staff once the lockdown is over and on Sunday evening, they were interviewed on BBC News.
‘National Hair Sunday was originally an idea for us to use in our salon. We’d been trying to think of what we could give back to NHS front line workers, and we decided we should give free hairdressing. We want to invite as many local frontline NHS workers as possible into our salon after lockdown to say a huge thank you for all their hard work’ explains Royston. ‘When we initially posted about National Hair Sunday on our hair salon Facebook page, the response was incredible and so many other hairdressers commented to say what a fabulous idea. We quickly realised that we wanted to make this a national campaign! No only do we want frontline workers in Wolverhampton, and Shrewsbury to benefit from National Hair Sunday, we are encouraging salons across the UK to get involved and offer this free hairdressing service to as many NHS frontline workers as possible one Sunday after the lockdown ends.’
Nick said of NHS staff: “We want every hairdresser from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales to join us, nationally. We’ll call it National Hair Sunday and make it the biggest event in hairdressing and show NHS frontline workers exactly how much they are appreciated. These guys have been amazing. They have saved lives, they have looked after everyone, They are simply amazing people.”
It’s unbelievable how big the campaign has got already. Brands, large hair salon groups including Rush in London, Francesco, and other smaller ones in Tettenhall, and elsewhere. We didn’t expect so many people to be as passionate as us, giving something back. It’s amazing.
National Hair Sunday at Royston Blythe is going to be a really special day. People are going to bring sandwiches, cake, maybe some bubbly. We want to do everything we can to make our frontline NHS workers feel amazing.
All salons are invited to take part – visit www.nationalhairsunday.co.uk for more.
