Sophie Beattie
Artistic Director
Sophie is one of the country's most in-demand stylists, as her work has taken her around the country in competitions, catwalk shows, exhibitions, and session styling. As a L'Oreal Ambassador, Sophie travels around the UK teaching hairdressing trends and product knowledge to other salons, as well as acting as a spokesperson on behalf of the brand. She has styled for the top designer shows at London Fashion Week, and appeared on stage at Salon International. Sophie's competition career has seen her achieve success in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy for an outstanding four consecutive years, and she has been nominated as a finalist in the British Fellowship FAME team. In addition she has been selected by L'Oreal as an ‘ID Artist' three times consecutively - an unusual feat. Sophie has now moved on to represent the L'Oreal brand on the Colour Trophy Tour, where she will be styling and presenting models live on stage to competitors, salons, and the media. Closer to home, Sophie is Head Of Training at Royston Blythe, ensuring our young apprentices are educated to the very highest standards.
Sophie views her salon specialism to be understanding client's needs and exactly what they want from their hairstyle.
Ashley Gamble
Artistic Director
Ashley is fast becoming one of the most well-respected young stylists in the industry and has been featured in numerous magazines as 'one to watch'. His credentials focus primarily on his session styling, media presence and photographic collections, as his outstanding work has been constantly requested for national and international front covers and fashion pieces. Ashley often assists Nick and Royston with styling for top magazine titles including OK! And Hello magazine, and has received critical acclaim for his own salon photoshoots. In terms of competition success, Ashley is the proud recipient of arguably the top accolade in the UK industry - Winner of the Fellowship of British Hairdressing International FAME team - as well as achieving finalist at the L'Oreal Regional Colour Trophy, and finalist in the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards Newcomer of the Year category. His work has also been seen on the catwalks of London as Ashley styled runway models for top designer Christian Lacroix.
Ashley's speciality is sharp precision cutting; his signature styles are feminine crops and bobs, either classic or with a modern twist.
Kate Hubbard
Artistic Director
Kate has had widespread career success around the globe and never fails to make an impression due to both her hairdressing talent and her fiery red hair! As a bridal and long hair specialist, Kate travels around the country with Royston and Nick teaching seminars and presenting stage shows, representing either the Royston Blythe brand or the L'Oreal Academy. As a L'Oreal educator, Kate leads training sessions in other salons teaching product knowledge and styling long hair, and advises L'Oreal on new emerging products in the market. Her impressive collection of awards is (so far!) unrivalled in the salon, and almost in the industry; Winner of the Fellowship of British Hairdressing International FAME team, Winner of The Clothes Show Hairdresser of the Year, British Hairdressing Awards Newcomer of the Year Finalist, L'Oreal Colour Trophy National Finalist - the list goes on! A regularly requested stylist by some of the most well-known celebrity clients, Kate has styled for designer Gareth Pugh in his London fashion shows, and has had numerous glossy magazine appearances including Marie Claire when she styled the iconic Ecclestone family. The catalogue of glamorous awards shows and runway shows at which Kate has worked is far too extensive for this page but includes some of the highest profile events such as Saville Row and the German Embassy. Kate has also been in demand from the rich and famous at some of the most exclusive locations in the world, from yachts at Cannes, to the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
In the salon, Kate is a wedding and long hair specialist, while also creating fantastically wearable cuts for her devoted clients.
Beth Woodman
Artistic Director
An extremely experienced all-rounder with twenty years in the industry behind her, Beth is the only truly multi-talented member of the team who can both colour and cut, and do beautiful hair-ups. Her long career has seen her gain a wealth of experience in a variety of areas, from makeover photoshoots for Hair Magazine, to showcasing looks on stage at The Clothes Show, to styling for local catwalk shows and achieving regional finalist status in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy. In the salon, Beth's true passion now lies in the art of hair extensions. Having completed a wealth of technical training with celebrity-favourite brand Racoon, Beth enjoys using her skill and expertise in this area to transform clients' hair into long and luscious tresses.
Tammy Mallett
Creative Stylist
Tammy has had a very successful career alongside the salon working as an ambassador for Tigi, as well as enjoying competition and photographic success. She is a regular at high-profile celebrity events, as she has styled the stars for the BAFTAs, and the cast of Coronation St at the British Television Awards several times. Her accolades include being a Finalist for Newcomer of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards, and Finalist in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy Next Generation Award. Tammy's fashion work has been seen on high-profile catwalk shows at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and as one of our bridal hair specialists, has had her work shown on the Salon International Bridal Stage and the infamous Designer Bridal Shows at Battersea Park. As a Tigi Ambassador, Tammy educates in salons around the country on hairdressing and products, and has represented them on stage at Salon International. Look out for Tammy's photographic work in the industry press - her makeover skills and front-cover shots are in regular demand from all the glossy hair mags.
In-salon, Tammy's primary specialism is in hair extensions. Having undertaken a vast amount of training with the education team at the celebrity-favourite extension brand Racoon, she is extremely technically skilled in the application, maintenance and care of extensions, ensuring her clients can enjoy healthy and fabulous-looking longer, thicker hair.
Charles Douek
Creative Stylist
Charles may be our youngest stylist, but is talented far beyond his years! As a fairly new recruit to the Royston Blythe team, he has already stamped his mark on the competition world as he has just been awarded Winner of the L'Oreal Colour Trophy Regional Men's Image Award, and is eagerly anticipating competing in the national finals. Prior to joining us he gained an extensive education in some of the top training academies, including the Wella Trend Vision course and Tigi Creative Styling, as well as our very own Royston Blythe Hair-Up Masterclass in London.
Charles's specialism in the salon is his in-depth and careful consultations, and his understanding of client's needs, ensuring all of his clients leave with the style of their dreams.
James Kelly
Head Technician
As a recent graduate of the complex L'Oreal Colour Specialist Degree, James is one of the most educated and advanced technician not only in the salon but also in the surrounding area. In addition, he has passed several specialist courses in areas such as colour correction and creative colour, and plays a major role in passing on his experience and educating his fellow team members in the salon. James is certainly no stranger to competition success either, with a list of achievements including National Finalist in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy in both men's and women's categories. In recent years he has taken part of a wide variety of magazine shoots, makeovers and photographic collections, and in particular was a regular feature in the fashion and society press due to his participation in establishing colour services in our newly opened Dorchester salon.
James is hugely experienced in every aspect of colouring, but names his signature style as being beautifully natural, wearable colours with the focus on simple and understated elegance.
Michelle Lawley
Colour Technician
With a list of impressive accolades to her name, Michelle is one of our most well-respected technicians in the salon. She has completed a superb hat-trick in two major competitions, being awarded finalist honours for three consecutive years in not only the British Hairdressing Awards as Colourist of the Year, but also in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy. Michelle has also achieved finalist in The Clothes Show Young Stylist of the Year category. On the international circuit, she has taught L'Oreal Colour Seminars in Greece, and has been invited to attend the prestigious L'Oreal International Congress for industry leaders. In the salon, Michelle is known for her on-trend creative colouring skills, as well as producing the beautiful blondes which have been at the heart of her competition success so far.
Donna Davis
Colour Technician
With thirty years' success as a technician behind her, Donna has a suitably long list of impressive achievements. She has worked alongside some industry legends, such as Anthony Mascalo, coloured for Jerome Russell photoshoots, has had cover shots appear on the glossies and has had her work featured in various magazine makeover shoots. In addition, she has enjoyed competition success as a National Finalist in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy. A dynamic force in the salon, Donna guarantees a great colour result and infectious laughter!
Lisa Hayward
Colour Technician
With over twenty years experience, twenty of them being with Royston Blythe, Lisa is another contender for the loyal service award. Her long and varied career in the industry means that she is one of our most experienced colourists and consistently turns out outstanding work in the salon. Although now focusing predominantly on her loyal salon client base, Lisa can boast L'Oreal Colour Trophy success as a National Finalist, and various magazine appearances for her makeover expertise. In the salon, Lisa's specialism is colour selection; choosing the absolute exact shade for her clients, and colour placement, ensuring the colour compliments and highlights the cut perfectly.
Jodie Eagleton
Colour Technician
Jodie is pure home-grown talent as she has been with the Royston Blythe team for all eight years of her career. Alongside creative stylist Charles, she has just made her first foray into the competition world with an outstanding first place in the Regional L'Oreal Colour Trophy Men's Image. She has attended several technically advanced training courses, including the L'Oreal Colour Keys Diploma and the Vidal Sassoon Advanced Techniques, which is apparent in the skill shown in her work in salon. Her colouring skill and bubbly personality have landed her several high-profile bookings including household names, and she has taken part in the ‘DreamQueens' magazine photoshoots alongside Royston and Nick. Jodie's star continues to rise ever further and as a result is always in demand in the salon.
Stephanie Legge
Colour Technician
Another member of the team who has had wide competition success, Steph is an extremely valuable all-round colourist who is often in demand from all angles including celebrities, press, and most importantly, her loyal client base. Steph was recently called upon to colour a very well-known bride's hair ready for her high-profile celebrity wedding; the results were fabulous and were photographed for all the glossy magazines. The peak of her competitive career so far was being named Winner in the regional finals for the Men's Image L'Oreal Colour Trophy, and like her fellow team members she is extremely well-educated in technical skill having attended the Colour Keys Diploma and Vidal Sassoon Advanced courses. Steph's speciality in the salon is transforming the very latest trends into everyday, wearable colour that suit her clients' lifestyles while still being beautifully bang-on trend.
Vicky Bower
Colour Technician
Vicky is another relatively new but extremely in-demand addition to the team, having begun her career at Royston Blythe six years ago. She has excelled in various training courses, including the Advanced Techniques course by Vidal Sassoon, and is one of our fastest-building technicians ever, due to her friendly nature and impeccable colour work. She has also begun to take steps into the professional exhibition sector having assisted stylist Sophie Beattie several times, colouring the hair of models for the L'Oreal ID Artist shows.
Vicky specialises in technical bleach work, for all those glamorous bright blonde ladies out there!
Kevin Pilcher
Colour Technician
An experienced and well-educated colourist, Kevin always produces first-class colour work in the salon. Having also assisted on various press shoots alongside Nick and Royston, his skills and sunny personality make him a very popular choice with clients.
A talented all-round colourist, Kevin is particularly good at bold colours and fashion techniques.
