Diary
- December 2007
The month was started off on a high at the Fellowships Lunch on the 4th December.
This is my favourite lunch of the year and the one where they announce the new Fame team.
Ashley Gamble had been part of the team in 2007 and had loved every minute of the experience and we hoped that Kate would be equally lucky to be chosen. Her show at salon had brought the house down and her long hair model was perfect!!! So we hoped she had a good chance. This year the standard had been so high they chose 5 and all girls! Well done to you all, Have a great year!
This was then followed the following Sunday at the Clothes Show Live. This year was the first time they ran a competition for Hairdresser of the year. The best 20 hairdressers came from all over the UK and after presenting their model the top 6 were then chosen. The winner was our very own Katie Hubbard and it was announced during the fashion show to an audience of 6,000 and Kate was presented with a £1,000 cheque, a photo shoot with a top photographer and a great award .Father Christmas could not have brought her a better Christmas present!
We finally moved into our new house after 2 years. We hoped it would be finished by November, however, what does everyone say, it always takes twice as long as it should and costs you 3 times the amount you expect!! How right they are!
We have really missed entertaining at home. We love having parties, with friends. So I could not wait to arrange my first party. I had to cancel 2 pre arranged dinner parties, due to the house not being complete, so I was determined that I would hold one before Christmas. For 3/ 4 days before, we worked solidly every day in the salon and then worked until 1.00/ 2.00am to get house ready for Christmas. We did it and the night went very well. The caterers are a local couple and he is the most amazing chief, preparing his own breads, to chocolates at the end of the 6 delicious courses.
Christmas was a quiet affair with just close friends and family, it was great to be in our own home.
The month was finished off with the Staff Christmas Party. This is our thank you to all the team for another successful year. It was held at the York hotel and after a great meal the entertainment started!
The spice girls (not the real ones I’m afraid) opened the night and with 3 male volunteers, James, Ashley and Luke, accompanying Victoria the evening began with a scream.
The team love a laugh, so every year we have male and female strippers, to entertain and delight! The evening is not for the faint hearted or easily offended, however young and old enjoy it and the guys always stay for drinks after the shows and join in with rest of the evening.
The party continued late into the night and the stories continued for weeks after!
Thanks to all at the York Hotel, for looking after us again! |
